Candid Proposal Gatineau

Surprise Engagement Photography in Gatineau & the Outaouais

Thinking about proposing somewhere along the Gatineau River, in the hills of Parc de la Gatineau, or over a quiet dinner in Old Chelsea? Having a photographer there to capture the moment, without your partner ever knowing, means you'll have something to hold onto for the rest of your lives.

We're based just across the river in Ottawa and regularly shoot proposals throughout Gatineau, Aylmer, Old Chelsea, and the surrounding Outaouais region. We know the light, the locations, and how to disappear into the background until the moment is right.

Let us help you plan it. All you have to do is ask the question!

Engagement photography in Gatineau after surprise proposal

How it Works

  1. We'll build a detailed plan together - location, timing, and a cover story that makes sense for you as a couple.

  2. On the day of, we'll show up 20 minutes early and find a good spot to blend in, doing our best to look like a tourist or hobbyist photographer.

  3. We’ll come up with a subtle signal for you to give 30 seconds before you propose, then you do your thing!

  4. I’ll shoot the first few minutes from a distance, then I’ll come over and say congrats, and we can proceed to shoot a mini engagement session for 30 minutes.

  5. We’ll send over one image right after the proposal so you can post about it right away. The rest will be delivered the next day.

Pro Tips:

Make sure your partner feels good about how they look that day — tell them you're heading out somewhere nice for dinner or a walk.

Gatineau has some incredible proposal spots depending on your style. Lac Leamy at sunset, the lookouts in Parc de la Gatineau, the boardwalk in Aylmer, or a cozy restaurant patio in Old Chelsea all photograph beautifully.

If you're planning an outdoor proposal in the park, early morning or golden hour (an hour before sunset) gives us the best light.

A non-Saturday date is usually best during wedding season (June–October), as many wedding photographers are booked on Saturdays.
